Greggs’ sandwich sales for England–Mexico match postponed until 2026

Britain’s sports newspaper Greggs’ team manager said that the sale of its Mexican chicken sandwiches in England shops on 5 July 2026 would be through the England match at 1/8 of the final, as a result of which it will be postponed until the end of the day, according to ESPN, with the information shared with the publication’s Instagram page by Greggs.

The material states that the reason is that all the shops will be closed for the day, and that the Mexican chicken sandwich flatbread, Mexican chicken oval bite and Mexican chicken baguette will not be available. It is unclear how exactly it will be done, but it is stated that in England’s shops before the match in question, the products will be removed from sale.

In a post on ESPN, which it shared on Instagram Greggs explained the reason as follows: After careful consideration we've decided to say adios and bench our Mexican chicken sandwich range from all English shops for the duration of the day (July 5). Another phrase to publish was: It's coming home.

As ESPN explains, the Mexican chicken sandwich range will be removed from sale in England, as the match is scheduled to take place in the United Kingdom at 1:00 BST on July 5. The material also contains a comment that the company has stated: we know whose side you are on.
