Claude Science AI version launch for robotics labs
- Claude Science offers a set of capabilities, where the instruments are designed for seamless use by scientists
- According to the company, the agent will be able to run up to 60 experiments and may include specialized agents, while the agent will be able to process text and images
- Claude Science is a new agent that works on the same models as Claude, but can be launched on your own lab infrastructure

On June 30, 2026 Anthropic unveiled Claude Science—an AI version for scientists that does away with the need for data, instruments, and other things to be used in a single environment. The company says it is designed to help scientists get started quickly.
Claude Science is a coordinated agent that works like this: it can be used to run more than 60 experiments and has a set of instruments for researchers, from robotics to biology. The agent can also be used to build specialized agents and process text and images.
Claude Science is not a new model. With the latest Anthropic update, the agent runs on the same Claude models—starting with Opus 4.8—without any “guardrails.”
The service works as an agent. Any figure can be a “prompt” for the model, and the agent can interpret it and generate a response. It can also help with image generation and text processing, so that the agent can “read” the image and “understand” what it contains.
Of course, the agent can still be used to generate text. The company says its system does not guarantee the results, but it can be used to analyze and summarize the data.
Claude Science is designed for robotics labs: it can be launched locally on macOS or Linux, and also run remotely via SSH to HPC clusters. Once you set it up, the agent can plan and execute tasks between your lab’s tools and resources, such as via Modal or other platforms.
In addition, with the provided setup, the agent can run inside Nvidia BioNeMo Agent Toolkit for life sciences models, as well as integrate with 60 scientific databases, including UniProt, PDB, and ChEMBL.
The agent is built on Anthropic’s existing Manifold Bio and the Allen Institute’s research. With these integrations, Claude Science can help developers build applications for scientific research, including drug discovery, by using the agent’s capabilities.
Anthropic says Claude Science will be available as a beta for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. The company plans to roll it out to up to 50 projects from credits of up to $30,000; access will run from 15 June 2026 to 31 June 2026. Projects can last for 1 week up to 1 year.
