Drone strikes kill Sudanese man after court rules in Darfur, says 35 people

A drone strike by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the Darfur region killed 35 people, according to the report. The Sudanese Armed Forces said that, at the time, it was the Garra al-Zawaya militia that was responsible, and that civilians had been killed as a result of clashes between armed groups.

Emergency Lawyers said that, according to their findings, the attack was carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces. The organization notes that it is investigating the civilians killed in the attack.

In a statement, Emergency Lawyers said that the drone strike was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The organization added that it is based on a report by Armed Conflict Location & Event Data, which found that between January 2023 and December 2023 there were 59,000 reports of drone strikes.

The report also states that the Sudanese Armed Forces did not respond to the comment. RSF, for its part, denied carrying out the attack, saying in a statement that the “attack was carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces,” and that 37 people were killed and 50 were injured.

In its publications, the organization also notes that the drone strike was carried out by the Sudanese Armed Forces: according to the organization’s report, it found that 80% of deaths among civilians in the first quarter of 2026 were caused by drone strikes. The report also notes that the attack took place during the year, when it recorded more than 1,000 civilian deaths.
