Court in Delhi upholds verdict in sexual assault case against Bhushan Singh

The Delhi court upheld the conviction in a sexual assault case against Bhushan Singh, according to Independent, DW and BBC.

In 2024, the court in Delhi found Bhushan Sharan Singh guilty of rape and sexual assault, and sentenced him to life imprisonment, citing the seriousness of the crime. It also noted that Singh had been convicted.

Independent, in its reporting, said the case involved Ashwin Pandvar, who was found guilty of reserving 2 years. According to DW, the court found the sexual assault allegations credible.

After the verdict, Bhushan Sharan Singh said in an appeal that the prosecution had not proven its case beyond doubt. The court also noted that the evidence presented showed the seriousness of the allegations.

In response to the verdict, the court said that it rejected the defence’s arguments and found the prosecution’s evidence consistent. Independent and DW reported that Vinesh Phogat had previously expressed concerns about the investigation.
