Google’s Nano Banana 2 Lite, announced for 30 April 2026, is a new version of its lightweight AI video generator. According to the company, the model is designed to reach users faster and cheaper than previous generations.

According to Google, Nano Banana 2 Lite can generate video in just 4 seconds. The company says that with API-based generation, the price is $0.034 per 1,000 renders, while the cost for a token is cheaper for developers: $0.25 per 1M input tokens and $1.50 per 1M output tokens.

The model is based on the Gemini 3.1 family and is technically named Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image. Google says its instruction-tuning is based on Gemini 3.1, which means it may be less critical about details, and as a result, Nano Banana 2 Lite is able to handle new versions of tasks faster.

Nano Banana 2 Lite is available through Google AI Studio via Gemini API, as well as through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Google also notes that this is a “legacy model” for the Nano Banana line, which is being replaced.

For comparison, the same Google voice also mentioned the Gemini Omni Flash, the fastest variant shown at Google I/O. Flash costs $0.10 per second of video generation, and it is also available through the Omni Product Studio, which supports “kinematic” video for e-commerce.
