- Hilton’s representative said that the business had been sharing a viral content online, but it did not help anyone.
Police in Miami said they found that the blog post and video by Perez Hilton, which was named in the materials, described a method of self-harm on the platform TikTok. According to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the video showed how a person died by self-harm.
In the documents, prosecutors said that at the time of the incident an official investigation was underway into the death of a person. The materials also contain the allegation/denial that at that moment the person was not harmed.
According to the documents, the TikTok video was posted online. In a statement, NBC News said the video showed a person cutting their wrist with a knife, and that the person’s teeth were clenched as the incident took place.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said that the person’s behavior could not be ruled out as being related to a mental crisis or a self-harm attempt. The materials also indicate that the person had been in a mental health crisis and that it was possible that the person’s actions were influenced by the video.
In addition, on May 5, 2026, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said that the person was “safely recovered” and delivered to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue for medical assistance. The materials also state that the Crisis Response Unit determined that the person’s mental health crisis was likely linked to the incident.
Hilton’s representative said for the media that the business had been sharing a viral content online, which allegedly contained a clear call to self-harm. In his own words, the video did not help anyone.
It was also reported that the name of Perez Hilton is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr (also known as Mario Lavandeira, Jr). CNN reported that Hilton has been sued for defamation, and that the media personality’s statements were allegedly false.
