Ukraine’s General Staff reports on 259 combat clashes

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during the day, Russian forces carried out an attack along the front line. Information on the situation as of 8:00 a.m. on 5 April was posted on Facebook by the General Staff.

It is stated that the enemy launched one rocket attack and two air strikes, killing 89 personnel, destroying 295 armored vehicles.

In addition, the General Staff reports that Russian troops launched 10,709 drone strikes and 3,214 artillery strikes. Artillery shelled, among other places, Korenok, Bunivka, Rizhivka, Yastrubine, Stepaniivka, Ulanove, and Pustohorod in Sumy Oblast.

In Sumy Oblast, the enemy also fired at positions in the areas of Sumy and Novi Virky. In its own turn, Ukrainian forces fired back and destroyed an enemy artillery system in two strikes in the areas of the settlements of Sumy and Novi Virky.

In the direction of Slobozhansk, the enemy shelled positions. In response, Ukrainian forces struck two enemy artillery systems in the areas of the settlements of Lyman, Dibrova, Ozernе, Stavky, Chernechchyna, Olhivka, Shyikivka and Drobysheve.

In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, the enemy launched 19 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Zakytne, Kryva Luka, and also near Rai-Oleksandrivka and Piskunivka. In the direction of Kramatorsk, Russian forces launched three attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Fedoryivka, Druzhkivka, and Markove.

In the direction of Pokrovsk, the enemy launched 22 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Novohradivka, Toretsk, Shakove, Sofiivka, Cherneivka, Hannivka, Novyi Donbas, Dobropillia, and Shevchenko.

In the direction of Oleksandriivka, Russian forces attacked three times on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Novohryiivka, Rybne, and Piddubne. Ukrainian forces repelled 16 attacks, during which the enemy lost 16 personnel.

In the direction of Bilohrd, Ukrainian forces repelled three attacks by the enemy near Bilohir’ia, Pavlivka, and Plavny. The enemy did not conduct any offensive actions.

It is also stated that in the Volyn and Polissia directions, there were no offensive actions by Russian troops. Moreover, Ukrainian forces reported that the total number of Russian casualties since 24 February 2022 to 5 April 2026 stands at 1,452,880.

According to the General Staff, the enemy has also lost 1,130 personnel in the past day, including 12,242 tanks, 25,084 armored fighting vehicles, 47,396 artillery systems, 2,002 multiple rocket launch systems, 1,540 anti-aircraft systems, 444,455 personnel (operational-tactical losses), and 5,007 aircraft.
