Woman Charged With Threatening to Shoot Trump National Golf Club at California Course

  • At Rancho Palos Verdes, a woman was charged with threatening to shoot Trump National Golf Club at a course in Rancho Palos Verdes.
  • During a hearing in the morning, prosecutors said Taele, 38, described having a “security-planning activities” plan, and that she had brought a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and a variety of radio signal devices, along with “concerning statements.”
  • The defense argued that at the moment she made the claim that there was “no credible threat to our communities,” the statement was made for the purpose of obtaining a permit from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Deputies found the woman in a parked car outside Los Angeles County’s Trump National Golf Club at Rancho Palos Verdes with Donald Trump’s photo and, according to the defense, with a list of “security-planning activities.” Deputies said the woman was carrying a large arsenal of weapons and ammunition, including a handgun, an AR-15-style rifle, and a shotgun.

According to court documents, 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey was identified as the person who made the threat. Prosecutors said that during the hearing, Taele described having a “security-planning activities” plan.

At the hearing, Taele was shown a magazine from which hollow-point rounds had been removed, and a loaded handgun was also shown. Prosecutors said Taele was arrested after investigators found that she had been at the golf club and had made threats.

During the hearing, prosecutors said that, among other things, the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force was involved and that Taele made “potential security implications” statements during the investigation. Prosecutors said Taele also had an AR-platform rifle/AR-type firearm, a .45-caliber pistol, a large amount of ammunition, and “radio signal devices,” as well as “concerning statements.”

In her defense, Taele said that the weapons were not loaded. She also said that she had made the threat because, at that time, it was not a “no credible threat to our communities” statement.

Taele was reportedly released on bail after posting a bond. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the judge set bail at $250,000. Prosecutors said the case is being handled by the FBI and that Taele is facing charges that include a misdemeanor for transporting a firearm.

Prosecutors said that, if convicted, Taele could face up to a year in jail. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said that Trump’s photo was found among the evidence and that the case is being prosecuted by the Republican National Committee.
