The GOP primary in Michigan is under way, with Donald Trump’s running mate candidate, Michigan’s, leading the race, according to a poll. The Independent reports that Forbes provided the results.

Meanwhile, according to Associated Press, in 8 out of 8 Michigan precincts, the candidate is leading by nearly 99% of the votes. Forbes says that Thomas Smith has 50.4% of the votes, while Amir Hassan, who is running against Trump, has 33.2%.

The Independent reports that Hassan is trailing Smith by less than 17 percentage points in votes counted from the first half of precincts. It also notes that Smith’s lead comes from votes cast in person, while Hassan’s name is listed on ballots.

The GOP primary, which is taking place in Michigan, is focused on the campaign of Kristen McDonald Rivet. Forbes also adds that Lemmo, who is running for Smith, has 16.4% of the votes and is in third place.

Forbes writes that Trump’s rival posted five separate ads on Truth Social in which Hassan was mentioned as a candidate in the 8th district of Michigan. It notes that at the time of publication, Trump’s campaign had not commented on Hassan.
