In an interview with AP, London in the Covent Garden area, Metropolitan Police said they had footage of people throwing a bag, after which police said they began investigating. The report said that the police were able to provide additional information, citing material from AP and The Guardian, as well as information from Independent.
According to Metropolitan Police, the incident was reported on Endell Street in Covent Garden at 12:27pm. The Guardian said that London Ambulance Service received the call at 12:27pm, while Independent reported it at 12:29pm.
As The Guardian reports, police officers saw people in the street carrying out the throwing of a bag, aged 34, 39, 42 and 52. They were taken to a major trauma centre, according to London Ambulance Service.
According to The Guardian, the bag contained a substance that could be corrosive, which may have caused burns. The material also said that it was unclear whether the substance was dangerous, but that the victims were taken to hospital.
Police said, as The Guardian reports, the incident was not related to terrorism. The Guardian also said that London’s Air Ambulance was involved, while Independent reported that it was not.
