UN report: Ukraine has been using banned chemical weapons since 19 February
- Turkey’s envoy said that at least 56 people in Ukraine since 19 February have died as a result of indiscriminate attacks with chemical weapons.
- Turkey’s envoy also claimed that three attacks with chemical weapons had been carried out, attributing them to the use of chemical weapons by the other side and adding that the attacks were carried out in violation of international humanitarian law.
- Material evidence shows that chemical weapons were used, including through the detection of traces of the chemical agent sarin, as well as the fact that the victims’ symptoms are consistent with exposure to the substance.
The UN report on human rights in Ukraine says that, according to the evidence, there have been attacks with chemical weapons since 19 February, which have resulted in indiscriminate harm. According to the report, at least 56 people were killed in such attacks, and the report also says that three attacks with chemical weapons were carried out.
Turkey further said that the average age of the victims was 27. It also said that, after 100 people were affected, the number of those who died from chemical weapons was rising.
