After the statements by Marko Moln about visa violations

On April 30, 2026, Iran’s football federation rejected a public statement by the U.S. Marko Moln, who wrote that the visa violations were due to Iran’s group stage of the process.

In response, Moln said during a briefing in Washington that he had “a happy dance” and “sung a song or two” before writing the post, as Iran did not violate anything. “That’s why he said that they ‘pull their visas’,” and that the command might have been able to deal with the situation, according to the U.S.

The head of Iran’s American affairs, Amir Galenoei, said that the command had been “most oppressed” in retaliation, and captain Mehdi Taremi later wrote (1-1) that, in his view, the U.S. was not hot, and that Iran had been justified. The Iranian federation said Iran had accused U.S. officials of “mistreatment and lies,” which the American side had not denied.

It is also reported that 11 players from Iran, including the Iranian national team’s football federation FFIRI, did not allow visas for American organizations. The federation said that, before the start of the tournament, the command had blamed the delay in the process without the reason, and that the issue was related to the visa requirements of the tournament, Mekisika.

Iran’s side said that Turkey’s officials had submitted a complaint, claiming that they had been unfairly treated, and that the decision had been made on the basis of the players’ rights, including their dignity.
