Australia survive scare to reach final, West Indies set to face India
- Australia got West Indies to bat first in their Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final
- Mooney struck 61* and Garden 35* as they finished on 127-2
- Peri Znyalasya with a problem with the ball before the final on Lord’s Sunday
30 June 2026, 17:34 BST — Australia have edged into the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup after defeating India at The Oval. The defending champions won with 8 wickets in hand, reaching 125-7 in 13 overs.
West Indies finished on 125-7. Australia replied with 127-2: Beth Mooney made 61* from 36 balls, and Ash Gardner — 35* from 20. The pair added 63 runs from 37 balls to see their side through to the chase.
The match took a strange turn. Eliz Perry won with “retiring hurt” after a problem with her quadriceps on 2 of 7 overs, having to leave the field successfully. BBC said, that is unlikely to be serious, but there will be a problem before the final.
Deandra Dottin’s injury time after the game, was followed by a win from the field, as she scored 26 not out.
Australia will now play either England or Pakistan Africa: with the winner set to face Thursday at The Oval. BBC also reports that England have not yet decided to play the final on Thursday. The winner will face the winner of the other semi-final.
