In the U.S., the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 17-page report on the egg market forecasts that the average price of eggs will rise due to the “unprecedented” impact of the virus. The report includes Cal-Maine Foods, Versova and Hickman’s Egg Ranch, and the forecast period runs from April 2022 to May 2025.
According to the report, companies will increase their egg supply to Urner Barry Publications. The organization publishes egg price forecasts for eggs sold in supermarkets, restaurants and other retail outlets. In addition, the report also notes that the “average” price of eggs is expected to rise, which will lead to an increase in the price of eggs for consumers.
Overall, the report indicates that egg producers will spend $3.3 million and produce 53 million eggs for the benefit of large-scale programs, including for poultry farms and other businesses. The report also states that companies are not required to provide any information and that they should simply follow the recommendations.
It is also noted that companies will continue to increase their egg supply to the market in order to maintain stable prices. In addition, the report states that the forecast is based on market data and that the price of eggs will not fall below the level of $2.50 for Grade A eggs, while AP eggs are expected to remain at a similar level until June 2026.
In the meantime, the report notes that the average egg price in the U.S. is projected to be $6.23 per dozen in May 2025, which is driven by a shortage of feed and other factors. It is also stated that the price of eggs is expected to rise due to the increase in demand and the limited supply of eggs.
In addition, the report also provides a figure showing that the egg price forecast for the U.S. Department of Agriculture is “unprecedented.” The report also notes that the increase in egg prices is expected to continue, with the average price for eggs in the U.S. rising to June 2026.
