The David Bowie: On Tour exhibition from the late David Bowie will open at the V&A in the UK. It starts on the V&A Dundee site in 2026, running through to late 2027.

The exhibition includes more than 100 archive items from the Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse in London, including a selection of items that have never been publicly displayed. Central to the collection is the original Ziggy Stardust costume, extracted from the superstructure it was created in, which preserves the musicians legacy from that period.

There will also be a chance to see some of Bowies other iconic pieces, including the complete artwork for the album Low, as well as a jacket by Natasha Korniloff for the 1980 track Ashes To Ashes. The programme will feature in-person talks and a range of archive pieces, including the first instrument Bowie used on stage, the Grafton Alto saxophone, which he bought in 1961.

The exhibition is divided into four parts. Bowie Through a Lens explores Bowies photographic portraiture, All the Somebody People focuses on the characters he created for the stage, and Hooked to the Silver Screen examines the cinematic side of Bowies career, including his work with film and television. The final section, I Cant Give Everything Away, looks at the songs Bowie left behind, featuring the original microfilm for the recording of the track, as well as a list of additional materials.

After opening in Scotland, the exhibition will travel to England. It will include Showtown at the Bowes Museum (red2ver until 2027), Bowes Museum at the Bowes Museum in Darem (until 2028), Ferens Art Gallery in Hull (until 2028) and Bristol Museum and Art Gallery (until 2028). The remaining pieces will be displayed at other venues.

Speaking at V&A Trustees, the museum said: 2we are delighted to show V&As collection of archive materials from Bowie at V&A2, adding that the items will be displayed in a way that reflects his legacy and the museums mission.
