Ajax signs Caio Henrique until 2030

  • The Brazilian defender left the French club after six seasons and signed a long-term contract in the Netherlands.
  • During his time in France, he played 211 matches and provided 39 assists.
  • The Dutch club’s management is counting on his experience and leadership qualities after the coaching change.

Ajax has announced the transfer of left-back Caio Henrique from Monaco. The 28-year-old Brazilian has signed a contract until June 30, 2030. The transfer fee has not been disclosed.

Henrique spent six seasons at Monaco and played 211 matches. During that time, he recorded 39 assists. At the club, he was called the team’s second-best assist provider in the 21st century.

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff said the club had been working on this transfer for a long time. According to him, the player has great experience and leadership qualities that can help the team immediately.

Monaco also confirmed the player’s departure. This season, he played 22 matches in Ligue 1, 9 in the Champions League, and 3 in the French Cup.

Ajax is completing its rebuild after a difficult season in which the team finished fifth in the Eredivisie. Earlier this month, the club appointed Spaniard Michel as the new head coach after the departure of Oscar García.
