Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mikhail Fedorov said in an interview with Politico that with partners’ help, Ukraine can start a new cycle of weapons supplies that Russia will not be able to counter.
In his words, Fedorov said that Ukraine would benefit from new resources for the next cycle of the war, which can help stop Russian attacks.
He also noted that Kyiv is pressing partners to “shorten the time window” by improving the delivery of weapons, including drones, so that the pace of supplies does not allow Russia to adjust.
Fedorov said that the main idea is to create a “middle-strike” campaign, with timely strikes, using drones, to disrupt Russian logistics and prevent it from regrouping.
As a result, the minister said, the 155-mm artillery shells will be delivered faster—this will help reduce the time between strikes and increase effectiveness.
The minister also noted that it is important to help Ukraine with the resources it needs, rather than waiting for the next round. “The key is speed,” he said.
Fedorov added that Ukraine needs to change the timing of the war, using the “middle-strike” concept, and that this will make it possible to destroy Russian air defenses and logistics.
He also said that the partners’ support is crucial, because it allows Ukraine to maintain pressure and prevent Russia from regrouping.
According to him, the special fund with June 30 will provide Ukraine with €3.9 billion from the European Union’s first tranche of the Ukraine Support Loan. “This will help us move forward,” he said.
