American R&B singer Chris Brown was ordered to pay 12.9 million dollars in damages (plus 9.7 million dollars in punitive damages) to his neighbor for assaulting him by throwing a rock through the window in 2020. The judge said the court found that the assault caused ongoing harm to the victim. The jury found that the neighbor suffered physical injuries and emotional distress.

As it was established, Maria Avril worked at Brown’s building in Tarsani, where Clifford, who lived there, was her neighbor. The material says that the rock weighed about 90 kg (200 pounds), and the rock hit the back of the head.

After the trial, the jury found that Brown and his company Black Pyramid LLC were not liable for assaulting the neighbor through the window. According to Billboard, the jury awarded Avril $885,000 in total damages, while Maria Oscar Olive — $50,000.

The jury determined that the rock thrown by Brown hit the neighbor’s head, and that the injury caused pain and suffering. The judge also found that the assault was intentional and that Brown had acted with malice.

Brown denied the allegations, saying that he was never in the area and that the rock was not thrown by him. The sister said that the rock was thrown by someone else.
