Halifax brand name to be phased out by Lloyds after 173 years
- Lloyds Banking Group will phase out the Halifax brand in favor of Lloyds
- New Halifax brand names will not be introduced, and any — existing — will be phased out
- By 2027, Halifax will have 190 out of 531 branches without a Halifax brand
Lloyds Banking Group has announced it will phase out the Halifax brand, which has been around for 173 years. With the bank’s launch, the branch names will be changed to the Lloyds brand.
The group is planning to phase out new branch names under the Halifax brand and replace them with Lloyds logo branding.
Starting in 2027, the bank plans to remove Halifax from 190 of its 531 branches. The change will take place across the group.
In addition, it has been confirmed that the branch numbers will not change.
It is expected that the change will be part of Lloyds’s broader strategy, which it has been rolling out across the board.
According to the plan, Lloyds’s current brand will be replaced by the group’s brand in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as is already the case with Bank of Scotland.
