American Priorities is Influencing U.S. Politics Through Live Democrats
- American Priorities is pouring money into Democratic candidates, supporting live candidates through AIPAC.
- Melat Kros is an Israeli election?; She supports DSA, and the campaign has been linked to a group of critics who claim that the policy violates Israel’s.
- CNN says it has found evidence of a group’s criticism that could be traced back to the “them” money.
The article goes on to discuss how American Priorities funds Democratic candidates in the U.S. that are tied to the interests of Israel.
In a CNN investigation, it was found that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) funnels millions through a super PAC to support critical positions on Israel, including members of the Democratic Party. Notably, AIPAC’s influence is such that, in their own words, “American Priorities: a super PAC that targets Democratic candidates,” which has been linked to pro-Israel messaging.
According to CNN, American Priorities supports two Democratic socialists — New York’s Darializ Avili Sheval and Clark Walds — and that group also helped fund third-party candidate Melat Kros, who ran against Daniel Deddett.
In Vox’s reporting, it says that Melat Kros is a new political move that supports Democratic Socialists of America. The 29-year-old candidate for Congress in Dan Deddett’s district, who is challenging him, has been supported by Vox, which notes that her campaign is a test for live political messaging between New York and the country.
Vox points out that Kros’s support for Israel is so strong that she has effectively aligned herself with the DSA leadership, despite the fact that her campaign has been criticized. The material also notes that, in recent years, Kros has criticized Israel with the support of the DSA leadership.
CNN also reports on the scale of spending. American Priorities, for example, has spent about $5.5 million, while super PAC AIPAC, United Democracy Project, has spent about $34 million. For what American Priorities has done, it says, the Democratic Party is trying to push a message that is pro-Israel and that supports the campaign of a candidate.
Also, CNN reports that in Colorado: the group spent $150,000 on television ads, promoting Kros to win the election. Vox, for its part, argues that Kros’s campaign is part of a broader strategy to influence the Democratic Party in the run-up to the 2020 election.
In a CNN follow-up, it states that American Priorities has described a detailed ideological influence on progressive voters, which is why it supports the “anti-Israel” message. United Democracy Project responded to CNN, saying that “anti-Israel” rhetoric is not something that AIPAC supports.
CNN also adds that the group’s spending on Bush to support AIPAC is $7 million, which supports the campaign of Gayle Stephens against Abdul El-Sayed.
