Everton have reached an agreement with midfielder to sign him from Middlesbrough

Everton have made a bid for Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney. According to BBC, the Toffees are offering around £16m, while football journalist believes the contract is worth more than £25m.
The Athletic reports that the initial offer is £16.5m. The deal could rise to more than £25m depending on add-ons, with clauses related to appearance and England’s international caps, as well as performance-related bonuses for Everton. The transfer is also expected to include an “add-on” clause for Middlesbrough.
Hackney is 24 years old. The player has agreed to join the club, with a contract that will keep him at Everton for up to 10 years, after which he is expected to leave the club. The 2025-26 season will be his final season at the club.
During Middlesbrough’s run to the end of the season, he started in the 1-0 win over Derby County. After the match, he said: “A new star is born, and it’s a new stage of development for the club.”
BBC also says that Hackney is set to be Everton’s first signing. Sky Sports News reports that the £16.5m offer is being made, while Middlesbrough could receive up to £24m.
