- Norris points to an issue with McLaren that has been plaguing them throughout the season.
- Before the home race, the Briton said he was confident that the team could resolve the problems before the start.
- Silverstone welcomes Sprint weekend: a practice session on Friday, Sprint Qualifying, and then the Sprint race over 100 km on Saturday.
Lando Norris ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone said that starting with McLaren having “a problem” that could cost them victories, he hopes the team can, with the words, “fix it” before the race.
Norris believes the issue that has been haunting them throughout the season is the reason McLaren suffered a double blow. “We’ve got a problem,” he said. “It’s been happening since the start of the season. We need to fix it once and for all.”
McLaren’s season has been disrupted by another setback in the fourth race, after which Norris said the team could still turn things around, as it had already happened before, and that the problem could be resolved. “We just need to keep pushing,” he added.
On Silverstone, Norris and the team are hoping for a breakthrough. “We need to get the car working properly,” he said, “because at the moment we’re not where we should be.”
Sky Sports F1 before the Sprint weekend noted that Silverstone is set to host Sprint weekend: a practice session on Friday, Sprint Qualifying, and then the Sprint race over 100 km. “We’ll see how it goes,” said the broadcaster. “McLaren has identified the issue with the car and is working to fix it, but there is still a risk of problems.”
In the context of Sky Sports F1, Jordan Russell says that in the last race in Australia, Silverstone’s name was linked to the Russell team’s result, as the race ended with the team finishing second. “It’s a good sign,” he said.
Meanwhile, Norris and Oscar Piastri think the season’s strongest start is still to come, but the problems with the car’s reliability must be resolved. “We have to keep working,” they said.
Silverstone’s British Grand Prix features 3-5 laps for the sprint weekend, while the sprint race weekend covers 2 laps to a maximum of 5 laps.
