Marcell Jacobs posts 9.67 at 100m but record still not ratified
- Jacobs ran 100 m in 9.67 at the Aizenstadt meeting, but the time will not be ratified as a record due to a tailwind of +4.1 m/s.
- Glove clocked 9.76, while Njerk — 9.83; the wind was stronger than allowed for records.
- Matters of wind aside, what Jacobs achieved on the track was even more impressive than Usain Bolt’s.
Marcell Jacobs at the Austrian meeting in Aizenstadt ran the third-fastest time in history over 100 m — 9.67. However, the result will not be ratified as an official record due to the excessive wind.
For the sprinter’s 100 m, the wind was +4.1 m/s, which is 2 m/s higher than the limit for official records. Jacobs’ time will therefore not be recognized as an official record.
The only thing that prevented the British athlete Romell Glave from setting a record was the fact that he finished with 9.76, but the record was set by Wayde van Niekerk, who clocked 9.83.
Publication notes that, despite everything, Usain Bolt’s 100 m performance was still better. Wind aside, Bolt’s record of 9.58, set in 2009, remains the fastest time ever recorded without any wind assistance during the period.
