Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla announced his retirement at the age of 41. The player posted the news on Instagram.

Real Oviedo confirmed the news, where he began his career. In 2025, the club said, it will be waiting for La Liga, but the farewell video is expected to be posted on social media this time.

Real Oviedo said that two clubs, which are currently waiting for Cazorla, are part of the club’s history. The club also noted that the player’s retirement is not a surprise, as he had been dealing with injuries for a long time.

Cazorla began his professional career at Villarreal in 2003, and then played for Arsenal (2012–2018). In total, he spent 11 seasons in the Premier League, scoring 29 goals and providing 180 assists for the club.

He won two La Liga titles with Villarreal. His best period was at Arsenal, where he became a key player. He also played for the Spanish national team, helping them reach the 2010 World Cup.

After leaving Arsenal, Cazorla went on to play for Al Sadd. His final season was as a professional in 2025.
