How to enable the Galaxy S27 private display on Samsung

  • Samsung will bring a private display to all Galaxy S27 models starting this year
  • The private mode on the Galaxy S26 Ultra was launched in a limited way through a software update
  • For the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the private display will be supported, but Samsung says it won’t be available due to limitations with the power consumption of the technology

Following the report of Galaxy S27 Pro’s private display in Samsung documents, the company plans to roll out the private screen feature across all Galaxy S27 models this year. According to The Elec, the update will be applied to three versions—base, Plus, Pro—and also the Ultra.

Interestingly, unlike the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which had a private display that was accessible only with a specific display feature, the Galaxy S27 models will support a private display that can be used with a single setting. The material also notes that the private display works on the basis of a new feature: a panel filter that physically blocks light, which is why the screen content can’t be seen from certain angles.

That said, it’s still unclear how long the feature will take to change—i.e., whether it will be instant or require some time to activate. The private mode may also be locked behind a PIN code or other security method.

The Elec adds that the private display technology, which Samsung has implemented on its smartphones, will not be available on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The reason, according to the report, is that the foldable phone’s internal screen uses a different panel structure, making it difficult to apply the technology.

The material also states that the company responsible for the display technology is Sigmaintell, which can supply the technology, while Samsung’s display suppliers will install the components on the production lines.

One more detail: what exactly the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will be missing is a mobile “privacy mode” that uses a filter. CNET, citing a report published , notes that the company may introduce a new private screen feature for its upcoming foldable devices.
