Before the British Grand Prix, which will take place at Silverstone, Lando Norris said he thinks Max Verstappen could move from Red Bull to McLaren. Sky Sports F1 also reported that Norris said that the reason for this is that Verstappen has been interested in the idea for a long time.
Norris said that he believes the reason is that the world champion wants to keep his momentum in the title race. “I’m not sure,” he said. “I don’t know. But I think the focus is on winning races, and that’s what he’s doing.”
It was also reported that the Mercedes team boss, Toto Wolff, believes the move from McLaren could be linked to the fact that Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028, but that he could still change teams earlier if he wants to.
Oscar Piastri said in an interview with Sky Sports F1 that Verstappen’s move would be a good thing, but only if the team can offer him a competitive car. Verstappen added that he would like to win the title with a team that can give him the best chance.
In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Kimi Antonelli, the leader of the championship standings, said that “momentum” in the title race is what matters most against Mercedes driver George Russell. According to Sky Sports F1, Antonelli leads Russell by 68 to 40 after the previous round in Belgium, while Russell finished second in the standings behind Antonelli.
With Antonelli’s words, Russell’s team had done well, but the team with the problem in the car was able to fix it. Russell added that the car started to work better after the problem was solved.
Sky Sports F1 also said that Russell wants to “tick the box” for the team’s next stage, but he is not sure he can do it. The British driver, Russell, said that he has the best result in Britain, and that he hopes to improve his performance.
