Portugal will face Croatia in the 1/8 final of the 2026 World Cup. Marca predicts that the match will be played on Thursday, 2 goals, at 7:00 PM ET at Toronto Stadium, and that the Portuguese side will advance to the next round.
Marca also says that Cristiano Ronaldo can get through to the next round at 41 years old. According to Marca, Ronaldo has scored two goals in the following matches: first at 6 minutes, and then at 38 minutes in the match against Uzbekistan, and also in the match against Morocco (three against Spain — one against Morocco), in 2022 — against Guinea, and in 2026 — he will score two goals.
However, Marca notes that Ronaldo’s record against the opponent in major tournaments is not the only thing to consider: in the last 16 matches, he has scored four goals. Marca also notes that Independent believes that Luka Modrić is the player who can make the difference, and that he could still be the one to score in the match against Portugal.
Independent, which also analyzes the day’s matches, also believes that Portugal against Croatia will be the match where Croatia’s player will score two goals in the 1/8 final. Independent adds that Spain vs Austria will start at 8pm BST (3pm ET).
As for the other match on the day, Independent — Switzerland vs Algeria. Marca believes that it will be the match where the Swiss side will score early and win the match on Friday at 4am BST (11pm GMT).
