England complete wipeout of Africa in final T20 World Cup
- England beat Africa in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at The Kia Oval to win the title outright.
- On Saiver-Brunt’s 75 (47) off 47 balls, the opener and 133-run partnership with 4th-wicket Najt sealed the win.
- England’s final innings saw them defend the total against Australia at Lord’s.
In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final, England beat Africa by 40 runs after setting a total and then defending it in the second innings. The match was played at The Kia Oval.
According to Sky Sports, captain Nat Saiver-Brunt was named player of the match after scoring 75 off 47 balls. England, batting first, made 169-5, with opener Saiver-Brunt scoring 58.
Batting for Africa, as Sky Sports reported, Laura Wolvaardt was the top scorer with 43 off 43 balls. After that, England, with the super fast bowling in the middle overs, took wickets one after another and restricted the opponents’ bats.
Sky Sports reported that the wickets fell in quick succession as the team’s total reached 129-8; Lauren Bell (2-28) and Charlie Dean (3-31) were the key bowlers for England.
In the final, England defended the total against Australia at Lord’s, as Sky Sports reported. Earlier, the team’s captain had said that England, who had been champions at Lord’s, would be able to win the title in 2009, when the team won the title at home.
The Guardian reported ahead of the match that Africa had won the toss. Earlier, The Guardian also reported that Sofia Danklie had been injured in a fall during a match.
