San-Antonio Spurs have hired former Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan as their assistant coach, ESPN reports.
According to ESPN, Donovan, 61, will join Spurs after coaching the Bulls for seven seasons in the NBA, finishing with a 226-256 record with Chicago. Donovan previously coached the Oklahoma City Thunder as well, where he led the team to the playoffs, posting a 243-157 record in his time with the franchise.
ESPN also reports that Donovan previously coached the team to the playoffs, and that he has been named assistant coach of Spurs. The Athletic notes that Spurs have hired Donovan after he was fired by the Bulls, and that he has been linked to the job for some time.
According to The Athletic, the Spurs’ assistant coach will be Billy Donovan, who will work with the team’s head coach. The Athletic also says that Donovan will not be the only new addition, as the team is expected to make further changes.
As The Athletic reports, Spurs’ assistant coach Jon Harris will oversee the team’s offense, while assistant coach Jonathan Tchatchoua will oversee the defense. Assistant coach Ryan Oliver will also join the staff.
