Switzerland beat Algeria 2-0 and advanced to the Round of 16 at the World Cup on Thursday, according to AP. Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye scored the goals.
According to AP, Embolo scored in the 10th minute, while Ndoye doubled the lead after another quick goal just before halftime. AP also reported that Switzerland will play the winner of the Colombia vs. Ghana match in the Round of 16. Al Jazeera said the match was played without any fans.
Al Jazeera also reported that the result was not affected by the lack of spectators because Switzerland advanced to the next stage, and the match ended 2-0. AP added that Algeria had played their last match at the World Cup in 2014, when they lost in the group stage.
