France expects 2,025 excess deaths during the 22–28 April period

France expects that, during the month of April, which begins at the start of the month, there will be an increase in excess deaths in Europe, which will lead to an increase of more than 2,000 deaths compared with the previous period. According to Public Health France, the number of excess deaths during the 22–28 April period is expected to be 29% (2,025 excess deaths), and, in this regard, it is explained that the figure is an indicator of the number of deaths.
The French Minister of Health, Stéphane Rist, said that excess mortality is expected to be higher among people aged over 45. The minister also stated that in this regard, in the period of 22 April, mortality could reach 62% in the region of Pays de la Loire.
Overall, in Europe, the excess deaths are expected to be higher in the coming weeks. The minister added that, in the Netherlands, excess deaths could reach about 480, with an average age of about 80 years, and that the excess deaths in other regions are expected to be higher.
