According to the official scorecards, in the 11th round the judges’ scores were as follows: judge Manuel Oliver Palomo had it 95-95, judge Fabian Guggenheim had it 95-95, while judge Pasquale Procopio had Verhoeven ahead 96-94. Verhoeven posted the statistics on Instagram, where he wrote the caption “Leave emotions out of it,” referring to the official protest. He also noted in his story that Usyk’s WBC title win was not achieved through the professional boxing rules.
After the fight, the protest was filed with the WBC by Agit Kabayel, whose promoter Turki Alalshikh said that there was no time to wait for the next round, and that Verhoeven’s victory was unfair.
