Court finds three men guilty of murdering Lyra McKee

Three men from Derry were found guilty of the murder of Lyra McKee, Lyra McKee, which took place in 2019.

Lyra McKee, 29-year-old, was shot in Belfast, after being hit by a bullet while standing near a car, which investigators believe was fired by a member of the New IRA in the Derry area on 18 January 2019. In the material, it is stated that the bullet was fired by Derry.

In court, the prosecutor said that the murder of Lyra McKee was carried out by three people: Jordan Devine (25), Pola McIntyre (58), and Peter Cavanagh (38). The judge ruled in Belfast Crown Court, and the judge, Mrs Justice Smyth, found the three men guilty.

In the indictment, it was stated that the three men were not strangers to the attack, but that they had deliberately shot at the police. The court also ruled that, although the judge Smyth did not find the evidence for the prosecution to be sufficient, it was still proven that the men had planned the attack.
