Barratt Redrow says it has received permission for a housing development at Kempton Park racecourse

Britain’s trio of racing discs is discussing the possibility of a Kempton Park racecourse upgrade. Barratt Redrow, the company behind the planned development at Kempton Park, has rejected Lincoln Jopp MP’s claim that a housing development of 2,000 new homes would be built on the site.

In a statement, Lincoln Jopp MP said he had been provided with information by Racing Post that, according to the information, the stabling for the races would be moved from Kempton. Barratt Redrow’s representative said that the planned development would not be built on the site, but that the company would proceed with work from Spelthorne borough council on the Call for Sites, and the additional new homes would be built in the area.

Jockey Club officials have said that the sale plan for the stables for the races at the end of 2017, which will be used to build the 2020 racecourse, has been agreed. The material also states that the plan is to start in 2025 with the construction of 10-year apartments for the stables in 2018, and that the stables at Kempton Park will be moved under the control of the Jockey Club.

However, the media are reporting that the stables at Kempton Park, supporting horses competing on Coral Eclipse Day at Sandown, are to be moved. The participation of the Dee Stakes Constitution River group race, the Coral-Eclipse (Group 1) race, is also set to be moved, while Sky Sports reports that Aidan O’Brien will be putting his horses into the Prix du Jockey Club at Chester, with his superstars in the form of Hawk Mountain.

The Independent reports that the stables at Sandown will be used for Coral-Eclipse (15.35), with the Constitution River race scheduled for the day, and also for Coral Charge (13.50) and Coral Challenge (14.25), with the remaining races. Sky Sports’ report says A Boy Named Susie will be at the Constitution River, and also includes the following horses: Gethin, Saddadd, King’s Gambit, Flushing Meadows and A Boy Named Susie.
