The Netherlands football association (KNVB) has decided to suspend players who were involved in racist chants during the match at the World Cup.

In the match, the Netherlands played Morocco in the 1/8 final, which ended 1-1, and then the Netherlands won on penalties.

According to KNVB, three players—Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber, and Crysencio Summerville—were involved in the racist chants.

KNVB said that the association cannot rule out that the players’ racist chants could have had an impact on the course of the match, but it wants to be sure of the facts. Therefore, the association has decided to suspend the players for the racist chants.

Premier-minister Mark Rutte said that the players’ suspension is necessary because, in his view, racist chants have no place in football. He added that the players will be suspended until the official investigation into the incident is completed.

In the meantime, the match against England is scheduled to take place in Europe: Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka, and also Kylian Mbappé, who were involved in racist chants in their previous match.
