Zelensky says the Netherlands will host the special tribunal over Russia’s aggression

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on Telegram that during a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, he discussed the establishment of a special tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. “The decision to host the special tribunal in The Hague is very important for justice,” Zelensky wrote.

In particular, the Ukrainian president said that the Netherlands has agreed to host the tribunal. He noted that the tribunal will be tasked with investigating and prosecuting Russian war crimes in Ukraine. He also said that the Netherlands will provide the necessary support for the tribunal’s work.

The materials also note that 15 judges from the Netherlands will be appointed to the special tribunal to prosecute the crime of aggression against Ukraine. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, said that Ukraine will receive official confirmation from the Netherlands that it will host the tribunal.

It is also reported that in 2026, the Netherlands will allocate more than 10 million euros for the tribunal’s operations for the investigation of Russian war crimes against Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Ukraine has already submitted a request to the Netherlands to host the special tribunal, and the Netherlands has agreed to do so.
