AS Monaco have completed the signing of Ansu Fati from Barcelona, with the deal set at 30 million euros. The footballer has signed a contract.
Under the deal, Monaco will activate the buyout clause for 11 million euros, with a further amount to be paid to Barcelona depending on the player’s future performance. The final amount is expected to be as high as €12.5 million ($12.5m/€11m).
Fati will spend the current season at Monaco, with the player already having started his Ligue 1 campaign and scored 12 goals in 30 matches, making him the club’s top scorer. All told, the contract includes 12 goals in 30 appearances.
For Barcelona, he is expected to have already completed 15 official games in the club. His previous contract included a clause that he would score 29 goals.
In 2021, Fati was loaned out to play for Lionel Messi’s club, but he did not manage to secure a permanent spot. That is why he was sold to Premier League side Brighton in 2023, where he faced problems with injuries.
According to the information provided, Barcelona will retain a share of the resale fee. It is also reported that the club has not disclosed the exact figure, but it is understood that Monaco may receive additional payments from the sale of the player in the future.
